This bundle gives insights into amazing contributions women have made and could be used to support Gatsby Benchmarks 3 and 4, Women’s History Month. It includes:
Women in Stem, which is a complete lesson and includes a preliminary quiz, which is then discussed as part of the lesson.
The Curie Women - the legacy of Marie Curie and her daughters
NASA Women - individual slides could be used as starters in Maths or Science lessons
Formidable Female Composers - this includes links to the music of the women mentioned and could work as a complete lesson or using individual slides and the relevant links as starters to inspire and support GB 3 and 4.
Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin - the breakthrough astronomer - this presentation could be used to support GB 3 and 4 in encouraging students to see the value in determination and what a woman can achieve despite the obstacles in her way
Sofonisba Anguissola - an introduction to a woman who made her own career in a time where court artists were predominantly men. This could support art and design with GB 3 and 4.
This assembly highlights this year’s theme of Anxiety, how it can affect anyone and everyone, but also looking at supporting and understanding those whose circumstances mean they are more vulnerable to feelings of anxiety. It looks at how you can cope with anxiety and where to seek help if you have ongoing problems with anxiety.
It will also be part of a bundle with other resources looking at situations where stress and anxiety are more prevalent, such as when facing disappointment, or in the face of exams, and areas of our lives we can work on to help improve our mental health, such as sleep, friendship and acts of kindness.
This lesson is designed with International Day of Families in mind, but raises questions and includes discussion points which would fit any discussion of families, so is easily adapted to fit with PHSE/RSE/Lifeskills topics. The Teaching Notes include a link to duplicate a preliminary quiz on Forms to get students thinking about some of the issues to be discussed. The presentaiton includes links to optional videos, with timings so you can decide which to include (or use later for a follow-up). The plenary allows you to review what has been discussed. This lesson includes a Ppt presentation with various optional discussion points and the Teaching Notes include a link to duplicate a quiz on Forms fro students to complete in advance or at the start. It allows for discussion of current issues around misogyny and where they may stem from, while giving opportunities to consider the differences faced by men and women going out in terms of their own safety. It looks at the debate around making misogyny a Hate Crime but also where feelings of misogyny stem from and what could make a difference.

Osteoporosis Week comes at the beginning of June, but this could be part of PHSE at any juncture. The lesson discusses what the condition is and how it can affect the body, but also looks at preventative members and poses the question of why young people should be thinking of this/be aware now. In many ways it contributes to supporting a healthy diet and exercise regime, also highlighting the contributing factors of alcohol and smoking, eating disorders and steroid tablets. There is a quiz on Forms to introduce students to thinking about the topic and the link to duplicate is in the Teaching Notes.

There is a whole world out there to see, but travel is expensive, so this lesson looks at ways of seeing the world without breaking the bank, using skills and training young people might pick up on the way and alerts them to looking out for opportunities while students.
This would go well as a follow-up to a presentation on Gap Years or a talk from a colleague about their travel experiences.

This revisits material students have probably seen at school, but considers the scenarios of starting university and leaving home. It includes advice on spiking and dealing with being offered drugs.
